NEW YORK – The Paula Cooper Gallery is pleased to announce a show of rarely exhibited paintings from the early to mid-1960s. The exhibition will be on view from 12 December through 14 January, 2003 at 534 West 21st Street.
The exhibition will include one of Donald Judd’s first paintings from his mature period, an abstract diptych by Jo Baer, an early combine painting by Robert Rauschenberg, an unusual multi-part work by Robert Ryman, and other important paintings by Yayoi Kusama, David Novros, James Rosenquist and Andy Warhol.
The variety of approaches to painting exhibited here evinces the groundbreaking originality of these eight artists as they came to prominence during one of the most revolutionary periods in American and Western art history.
